According to news4sanntonio.com, an 18 wheeler caught on fire on IH-10 west in San Antonio, less than half a mile from Loop 1604. The fire caused complete highway closure of the westbound lanes, resulting in a massive traffic backup. San Antonio firefighters were called to the scene and arrived to the truck fully engulfed by flames.
Fortunately, there have been no reports of injuries to the driver of the big rig or any third parties.
When 18-wheelers and other commercial vehicles accidents occur, the results are usually much more tragic. Because there appears to be no collision involved, the cause of the fire is still unknown.
