According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, Whirlpool has issued a recall for over 40,000 ovens sold in the U.S. and Canada. The recall was issued after eight separate incidents were reported, including one injury report involving second degree burns and personal injuries to a product user’s arm and back.

Many of the units were sold at Sears and various other retailers across the nation. The recall involves Whirlpool Jenn-Air brand wall ovens with extendable roller racks. Affected products include those with model numbers beginning with JJW2, JJW3 JMW2, or JMW3 and a serial number beginning with a D or an F. Whirlpool is offering free inspections and repairs for owners of the ovens.

When a defective product injures a consumer, the manufacturer may be liable for the personal injuries and any property damage that was caused. If you have been injured by a defective product, whether you were the purchaser, a user, or an innocent bystander, you may have a products liability claim.
