A report by a CBS affiliate station highlights the dangers of the water in a tragic boating accident. 8 friends were out on a lake when the boat they were riding in hit a concrete pillar in the water, ejecting 4 that were on board. A search and rescue crew scoured the water for hours before finding the bodies of two women who were killed in the accident. It is not clear whether alcohol played a part in the tragedy.
As summer recreational activities rev up, boating accidents are on the rise. It is important to remember the rules of the water and always take precautions. Make sure to have a life jacket for every boater, do not fill a boat beyond it’s capacity, and never, under any circumstance, operate a boat under the influence of alcohol.
