The Team Practice Areas

The team at the Law Offices of Ronald A. Ramos handles a wide range of personal injury and related cases. Some of our core practice areas include:

Car Accidents – Thousands of people are killed and many more injured in Texas car crashes each year. When those accidents are caused by negligent actions like drunk driving, distracted driving, speeding, or disregarding traffic signals, those who have been injured or lost loved ones may be entitled to compensation. But, insurance companies don’t always play fair. An experienced car accident attorney can help.

Truck Accidents –  Large truck accidents and other commercial motor vehicle accidents are often more serious than passenger car crashes, due to the size and weight of the vehicles involved. Truck accident cases may also be more complicated, due to the intersection of state and federal laws, the likelihood of out-of-state responsible parties, and more complex technical issues.

Motorcycle Accidents – In most cases, Texas law treats motorcycles just like any other type of vehicle on the road. Riders must obey the same traffic rules and laws as other drivers, and operators of all types vehicles are responsible for the safety of their passengers.

Bus Accidents – If you are using or driving near a city bus, you reasonably expect that bus and the bus driver will conform to the most stringent safety standards possible. Unfortunately, too often city buses fall far short of adequate safety standards.

Pedestrian Accidents – Texas certainly gets its share of auto-pedestrian accidents. But unlike many other places in the U.S., the Lone Star State does not always give the right-of-way to pedestrians. In other words, whenever a vehicle strikes a someone on foot, the driver isn’t automatically held liable for the accident.

Workers’ Compensation The Texas workers’ compensation system was designed to ensure that injured workers have access to medical care and replacement income regardless of fault. Workers’ compensation is often described as an exclusive remedy, but that’s only in relation to the injured worker’s employer. If you’ve been injured on the job, you owe it to yourself to explore other possible responsible parties—you may be entitled to more compensation than workers’ comp will provide.

Work Injuries Many attorneys focus exclusively on workers’ compensation benefits when handling an on-the-job injury case. Our attorneys know that in many cases, third parties are legally responsible for work injuries, and that exploring those possibilities can lead to significantly larger settlements.

Dog Bites –  Dog bites can be serious. About 1,000 Americans receive emergency medical treatment for dog bites each day, and nearly 10,000 are hospitalized each year. Under Texas law, the victim of a dog bite may be entitled to damages if the dog had bitten or behaved aggressively before, or if the attack resulted from the owner’s negligent handling or restraint of the animal.

Wrongful Death Under Texas law, the spouse, children, or parents of a person killed through the negligence of another may recover for their losses, including loss of both financial and emotional support. The estate of the deceased may also be entitled to recover for damages suffered by the deceased prior to death, such as pain and suffering.

Brain Injuries – A traumatic brain injury (TBI) can occur when some type of force strikes, fractures, or penetrates the skull. While different types of accidents can create the necessary force to cause this type of injury, car accidents are the leading cause.

Nursing Home Abuse & Neglect – Texas requires that certain standards be met for the many assisted living facilities in the state. The goal of the Health and Safety Code is to ensure that institutions deliver the highest possible quality of care.

Premises Liability – “Premises liability” often shows up in the news as slip and fall accidents. However, premises liability cases can actually involve any injuries you experience on someone else’s property.
